His artistic inspiration often draws from the picturesque landscapes of his hometown in Zhejiang province, overlooking the serene East China Sea, as well as the memorable encounters and experiences during his time in Nova Scotia.Colin's journey as an artist began unexpectedly, as he never envisioned becoming one in his childhood. "I aspired to attend art school, but my family faced financial struggles during my upbringing," he recalls. Undeterred, he honed his painting skills through self-practice and determination.With a heartwarming spirit, Colin has used his artistic talent to give back to the community. Through a successful art auction fundraiser, he raised an impressive sum of over $30,500, with every penny dedicated to supporting heartfelt causes within the community. In November 2021, Colin auctioned 52 of his original paintings to raise funds for the QEII's orthopedic surgical robot, while also generously sharing the proceeds with the QEII Thyroid Cancer Fund and the Chester Art Centre.

With 33 years of experience in the hairdressing industry, Colin is a graduate of the prestigious Paul Mitchell Hair Academy in the United States and the Toni & Guy Hair Academy in the United Kingdom. Colin have served as a lecturer at the Paul Mitchell Shanghai branch and managed his own chain of branded salons. At the age of 16, Colin began studying drawing under the guidance of renowned Chinese folk artist, Miao Huixin, and his artwork has won numerous national and provincial awards. Colin's passion for art has taken him to Australia, Japan, Europe, and the United States, where his pieces have been exhibited. One of Colin's artworks has even been collected by the Zhejiang Provincial Museum. In 2004, Colin was honored with the title of "Outstanding Modern Folk Painter in China" by the Ministry of Culture. In 2009, Colin immigrated to Canada and settled in Halifax, where he have been running his own hairdressing studio while dedicating his free time to creating art. In November 2021, Colin held a solo art exhibition at the Chester Art Center, where over 40 of his artworks were collected by art enthusiasts from various walks of life.
